One tablespoon (1 scoop) is enough for a standard load in HE washing machines. Heavily soiled laundry may require slightly more.

Orchard’s laundry powder is easy to use, but if you’re switching from liquid detergent, there are a few things to know:

1. Use the Main Wash compartment
   If your washer has a detergent tray with labeled sections (e.g. “Main Wash,” “Pre-Wash,” “Softener”) Orchard powder should go in the Main Wash compartment for standard loads, or place it directly into the drum before loading clothes, both methods work well.
2. Using a Pre-Wash cycle?
   Add up to one full scoop of powder to the Pre-Wash compartment of the detergent tray or directly into the drum. Then, add your regular full scoop to the Main Wash tray as usual. This ensures detergent is present during both phases of the cycle. If you only add powder to the drum and run a pre-wash, it may rinse away before the main cycle begins.
3. HE (High Efficiency) front-loading machines:
   Most HE washers are set up for liquid detergent by default and include a removable or adjustable insert in the tray. If using powder, that insert may need to be removed or repositioned – check your machine’s manual to be sure the powder dispenses properly.

Yes! Your scoop is included with every pouch but sometimes settles to the bottom during shipping – just give the bag a gentle shake or feel around inside. Each scoop holds 1 tablespoon (15ml), which is the perfect amount for regular loads in HE (high-efficiency) front-loading machines. Our scoops are made from recycled materials and can be recycled with your other household plastics through most municipal programs.
